Feeding, Measuring and Evaluating Children

Feeding, Measuring and Evaluating Children – 08/20/10

These children are waiting to be fed and measured.

With each trip to the villages, we learn more and more.  We appreciate the on-the-job training and learning from Troy and Tabitha’s experience.  We both were excited to go to some of the furthest villages in which we feed children.  These three villages are located a couple of hours from the city.   Troy, Tabitha and the two of us followed the feeding truck and assisted with the nutritional feeding of the children.

Dennis, Troy and staff pepare to feed the children their nutritional snack.

The trucks travel to these distant villages three times a week; however, our specific goal for the day was to evaluate the nutritional progress of the children.  This is done through a process of weighing and measuring them and then comparing the numbers with their past measurement.

The chart plots weight against height to place them in one of the four color-coded categories.

The children find this chart very easy to understand and enjoy helping in the evaluation of their own health and that of their siblings and friends.  We were all delighted to see that many had improved.  Please continue to pray for the mental, physical, and spiritual development of each of these precious children!
